There is a need for the stories of the Bible to be recorded for the people of Vanuatu. Many of the 106 living languages are oral and unwritten. While translation and printing of the Bible is of utmost importants it does precious little good to those who have yet to learn to read.

We hope that we can help by recording a few of the stories of the Bible into some of the yet untranslated languages of Vanuatu. We feel it is a tragedy all over the world that people are without the word of God in their heart language.

The startup cost for this project is approx 250 NZD (for the recording equipment), with additional funds required to create a soundproof recording room.

Hydro Electric project

A huge percentage of Vanuatu’s population lives outside the reach of reliable electricity. Because of the terrain and weather we have found that solar power is not the best option in Vanuatu. Price per watt production is much lower when small scale hydro is used.

Many villages in Vanuatu have the ability to provide enough electricity for themselves from the streams and rivers that border their villages. Small scale hydro is a great alternative to diesel and petrol powered generators. It doesn't require damming a river so there isn't any environmental impact.

We can provide light to schools, health clinics, churches and community centers. Also with enough water available we can provide refrigeration to help preserve the meat they butcher. We can provide power to an entire village for approximately 5500 NZD

Missionary Ventures staff have had the opportunity to assist in many successful trainings, with many more planned for next year.  They have helped to build a clinic and support over a dozen schools with supplies and teacher trainings in some of the most remote and under-served areas of Vanuatu.  In the past 12 months alone, Missionary Ventures' offices in New Zealand, Australia and USA have partnered together to assist ministries, churches, pastors, schools and clinics on a total of 5 islands in Vanuatu.  Over the course of its long-term involvement in Vanuatu, Missionary Ventures has worked  on over a dozen of Vanuatu's islands with nearly twice that many language groups.

On the island of Santo, staff and co-workers hold meetings and home-based Bible studies throughout the week, with over 20 language groups represented.  They are unable to give away any more NIV Bibles as the supply has completely run out!  This past year a large number of cases were shipped and also purchased in Vanuatu.  They have now started a Bible study translation project, so please pray over the coming year for this part of the ministry.

In the coming year we are looking to recruit volunteers to help with training pastors and also renewable energy trainees.
